project description

The modern University of London Sebastian Street facility extends across 6’500 sqm, providing academic space for research work and studies. The facility forms a separate block with a central atrium space between the buildings.  The fact that the project is located in a historical part of London, with the new elements having to complement the historical masonry, posed an extra construction challenge. Each of the buildings had to retain its own unique character that sits nicely within the surrounding area. The buildings feature double-glazed facades, glass imprints, and complex geometrical framework. The indoor environment boasts a wealth of space and light as well as sustainable materials while the facade is designed to cohere with the character and architecture of the surrounding space. The Sebastian Street facility includes two- to seven-storey buildings, with tailor-made Schuco system solutions for this particular project. Skonto Plan manufactured, delivered, and installed exterior structures and facade elements weighing up to half a ton each. The works were carried out to the highest quality and sustainability standards.
